Experiences- Live TV

Last night, I had the oppertunity to be part of a crew that helped to broadcast live election returns of mayoral races and the like in the St. Charles area. LU-TV26 worked from 7-10 last night. I have had oppertunities before to be part of crews broadcasting live, but never have I had as much responsibility as this. First I started as the editor, putting into the timeline the preproduced pieces that would be interlaced with our live coverage. Might I say that the best preproduced piece was T.J.'s nice interview with incumbent St. Charles mayor Patti York. Around about hour 2, I got pushed into manning the cameras, which was far from exciting. Hour three, good buddy Jacob relieved me and I switched into running the audio, which proved to be a pretty good job. All in all, the broadcast was a success, with only minor glitches, and we got some pizza out of Lindenwood, which was sweet.

That sounds like it would have been a lot of fun. I'm glad you got SOMETHING out of Lindenwood (and pizza is awesome), because I hear it's pretty difficult!
