Cardinals

The Cards are beginning to think they're a football team, only showing up to the ball park on Sundays. During the past three Sundays, the Cards have logged 32 runs, including yesterday's extra innings 12-9 win over the Cubbies. Scott Rolen was definitely MVP of the game yesterday, going 5-6 with 1 homer, 1 triple, and 3 singles. He also logged 3 RBIs and 3 runs. Quite a statbuilding day. I'm waiting for Mr. Molina's bat to start cracking once again. During the game yesterday, they were saying that Yadi had the best batting average on the team during spring training. Who'dathunkit? That's crazy. Yadi is my hero. The Cardinals offense will hopefully be getting some relief soon, as outfielder Juan Encarnacion has started his comeback rehab. Carp is also starting his comeback, which will be huge. I think it's about turnaround time.

Week 12 Snapshot

Another week has come and we have a new snapshot courtesy of the office of Mr. Erik Click. How exciting is that? First and foremost, the best information on the snapshot is that at the Lindenleader Banquet, which will be held tomorrow, will feature quite a menu, not the least of which is Au Gratin potatos and Mixed Fruit Salad. Congradulations to all you LindenLeaders out there. In other news, a new Lindenwood night at Busch Stadium coming up on May 4. Tickets are on sale through today in Mr. Tool's office, so go getyasome. The Friendship Cup is coming to a close. Most of the rest of the snapshot covers the goings on for Spring Fling. More later.

Bike racing and the rest of the semester

I had 3 bike races this weekend in and near Indianapolis, Indiana. I didn't do so hot, but it's cool. I tried hard. For the rest of the semester, I have several large projects to complete. In this great electronic resourses class, I need to complete my web pages. For my TV production class, I have my studio shoot for my TV talk show on Tuesday. In that I'm bringing in Marhanka, and we're promoting the bicycling team, which should be pretty cool. Today in my editing class I'm going to be required to present a clip from a movie that has some interesting editing techniques and explain why it's unique. I haven't chosen a clip yet, so I'm pretty stressed. You can understand. For Junior Sem, I need to do my interview with a communications professional and do a small write up on it. I'm pumped. The Cards are finally doing something good which is cool. Can't wait for summer. I want a brat. And some softball. And some broads.

2007 Lindys

The third annual Lindys awards show was held last night in the TV Studio with a healthy amount of success. Although we had a few problems in production of the show, overall, it went pretty well. I would like to extend my congradulations to all of my award winning colleagues for their accomplishments in Communications prowess. Jacob I'm proud of your LPS Roundup, and I know you really did do it. And your Fiction writing award. You're t he man. TJ, nice moves in all of your awards, especially your best in show. Well deserved. You're the man. If that avid has some compatibility issues with that mac of yours, I will be a nice guy and take it off of your hands for you. Brad, I'm proud of your music video. Good work. If someone else who won or was nominated for an award stumbles across this, I'm sorry I didn't mention you, but congratulations. Until next year. I'm pumped.

Where has the age of Sitcoms gone?

Reality TV is a joke. When did people stop liking sitcoms enough to have this movement of Reality TV? I watch an occasional American Idol when they're looking for the people to go on the show, just because it's hilarious when people that suck really bad but think they can sing, and get upset when they get outed. I watched the Apprenitce a couple weeks ago, which has led me to lose a fair amount of respect for Donald Trump. The only other shows on TV it seems are the CSI/Law and Order type shows, which do have some entertainment value to me, and seem like its a growing genre which should succeed. I miss the times of Sitcoms on every channel, and I find myself watching reruns of Seinfeld, Home Improvement, King of Queens, Yes Dear, and the like. As far as I can tell, the only shiny spot on television today is My Name is Earl, which is hilarious. I have to cut this short. I have places to be and people to see and things to do and stories to hear and food to eat.

Week 11 SNAPSHOT

Spring Fling quickly approaches. Yay for Erik Click. He's neat. Check this out: The t-shirts will be available in the following colors: azalea, jade, pacific blue and burgundy. How cool is Lindenwood Spring Fling?!?! What a joke. On to more important matters. As the semester comes down to the wire, I am getting a bit of spring fever and I have lost a bit of focus. As a great philosopher once said: "It's not that I'm lazy, I just don't care." Last night I sat down and made out a schedule of things I need to do, which will be great. I'm pumped. In other news, the LU Cylcing team has a couple of Cycling competitions this weekend in Marion and Purdue. I haven't been riding a whole lot, so I don't expect it to be a great one for me, but I'm still looking forward to it. In my last (and first, really) race, I fell off of my bike in the first lap, and never really recovered, which kinda hurt. Literally and figuritively. In other news, the Cards finally had a good showing- 10-1 over the 'Stros. Go Yadi!

Women's Basketball

Well, long story short, I didn't do so well in my Mens NCAA March Madness bracket pick 'em. I am also upset about the outcome of the championship game. I hate Florida. But as far as women's college basketball, I've pretty much been champ. My Wyoming Cowgirls finished with a 27-9 record, finishing off their season with a sweet win over Wisconsin for the WNIT Championship. Then, just last night, the Tennessee Lady Volunteers, led by head coach Pat Summitt, outreached the Rutgers Scarlet Knights by 13, securing their thier first NCAA Championship since 1998. The Lady Vols have been a dominant force in Women's College Basketball for quite some time, and are almost always in the Final Four, but last night they went all the way once again. Next year, I hope to see Wyoming get a bid into the NCAA Championship Bracket, where maybe they will meet Tennessee in the Championship game. How sweet would that be? Now that basketball is over, I suppose we can be set to watch the Cardinals do a repeat number as they defend their World Series Champion title this summer.

Experiences- Live TV

Last night, I had the oppertunity to be part of a crew that helped to broadcast live election returns of mayoral races and the like in the St. Charles area. LU-TV26 worked from 7-10 last night. I have had oppertunities before to be part of crews broadcasting live, but never have I had as much responsibility as this. First I started as the editor, putting into the timeline the preproduced pieces that would be interlaced with our live coverage. Might I say that the best preproduced piece was T.J.'s nice interview with incumbent St. Charles mayor Patti York. Around about hour 2, I got pushed into manning the cameras, which was far from exciting. Hour three, good buddy Jacob relieved me and I switched into running the audio, which proved to be a pretty good job. All in all, the broadcast was a success, with only minor glitches, and we got some pizza out of Lindenwood, which was sweet.

Wyoming Cowgirls- WNIT CHAMPS

Saturday brought a happy day to Wyoming athletics as the Wyoming Cowgirls basketball team won the WNIT championships as they defeated the Wisconsin Badgers. Go Cowgirls!
